Dr. J. Michael Bennett is one of the most highly respected orthopedic surgeons in the
Houston area with offices in Richmond/Rosenberg and Sugar Land. He is board
certified and specialized in sports medicine, having completed an ACGME accredited
sports medicine fellowship. Using the most advanced medical technology and the least
invasive procedures possible, Dr. Bennett has long experience in the treatment of
shoulder, elbow, and knee disorders, as well as cartilage repair and restoration.
While completing his sports medicine fellowship Dr. Bennett served as assistant team
physician to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the University of Miami Hurricanes, and the
Florida International University Golden Panthers. He has gained a vast amount of
experience in covering a variety of sports including football, soccer, basketball, baseball,
and lacrosse.
Dr. Bennett's experience in treating a large number of cases in sports medicine helped earn him the distinguished Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in sports medicine. He served as a team physician for Texas Southern University and the Houston Independent School District. He has also served as a team physician consultant to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Patients discover that Dr. Bennett is not only one of the most highly accomplished and
skilled orthopedic surgeons, but that he is also focused on the care and education of his
patients. He is described as a compassionate listener who answers questions and
thoroughly explains options and procedures. Patients are quickly put at ease by his
knowledge and care. Dr. Bennett has privileges at almost all area hospitals so he can
recommend the surgical facilty that best serves the needs of his patients.
Dr. Bennett continues to be involved in orthopedic research and has a number of
presentations and publications to his credit. He is on the volunteer faculty of the UT
Medical School as well as the Shriner Hospital for Children. He is also a presenter at
the Baylor College of Medicine. He is accomplished in the most advanced orthopedic
procedures including carticel transplant and the Tommy John elbow procedure.
Dr. Bennett serves on the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. He continues to
participate in ongoing research, and he is a member of several medical societies
including:
- American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS)
- American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM)
- Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA)
- International Society of Knee Surgery, Arthroscopy, and Orthopedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS)
